Essential Oils for Beginners

If you're new to the essential oil world, my suggestion is to keep things simple. Try not to get distracted by fancy blends and brands (I'm talking doTERRA and Young Living). Instead, stick to a more affordable brand and use what you have. Lately, I've been using Fabulous Frannie essential oils. Keep reading to learn more about my favorite oils and uses.

Lemon

Lemon essential oil is best used in the kitchen to disinfect and keep your space smelling clean. I like to place a couple drops at the bottom of the trash can and down the garbage disposal to fight the stink. I also diffuse the oil after dinner to eliminate odors.

Lavender

If you know me well, you know that I suffer from frequent tension headaches. I have found that driving in the car is one of my triggers. For that reason, I keep a spray bottle of diluted lavender oil in my car and spray it when I feel a headache coming on. Breathing in the sedative properties instantly reduces my pain. And of course you can diffuse lavender oil right before bed to help to wind down and relax.

Eucalyptus + Spearmint

It's cold and flu season and at some point we'll all need a little help to reduce symptoms. I like to place a couple drops of eucalyptus and spearmint oil at the bottom of my hot shower. Breathing in the steam helps to relieve my congestion and boost my energy.
